“Over here, wherever you go, people are the same, shopping malls are the same, everything is the same.”
We met Enson when he picked us up with his car and drove us to a restaurant in downtown L.A. He works for Lyft (a Taxi app) and loves three things we also love: eating, travelling and travelling to eat, so we talked a lot about Europe and Asia and food. The second time we met, to have his picture taken, we learned that his parents came from Taiwan, and that he studied real estate, business and sociology before dropping out, 100% certain that school wasn’t really for him. U.S.A. is not an easy subject for Enson but we insisted. “I wouldn’t say I hate it, United States is pretty big, but I’m tired of it. Over here, wherever you go, people are the same, shopping malls are the same, everything is the same. There’s no culture, like in Europe. The food is tainted, the water is toxic and cops, well… cops are the worst.”
